The most popular traditional Kazakh dish, besbarmak, is common in the western province of Mongolia called Bayan Olgii. The name translates to “five fingers,” indicating that the dish is eaten with the hands. Besbarmak consists of meat, broth and pasta. Ours was plated with boiled potatoes and accompanied by a vegetable slaw.
