12-layer coconut cake

Submitted by vanessa
Peninsula Grill
112 N Market St. Charleston, SC

This layered coconut cake has iconic status in Charleston, and for good reason: even for someone who's not a huge coconut fan, like me, it is ridiculously delicious. The coconut pound-cake innards are interspersed w/creamy coconut icing; on the outside are toasted coconut flakes. This restaurant is fancy, but you can order a slice at the bar to go. It's pricey, at $10+, but it's so rich it lasted us for days in our apartment fridge! Worth a try.
