Palermo gourmand Submitted by: kimmimanu
A'Cuncuma, Via Judica, 21, Palermo

Palermo is known as one of the first street food cities in Italy; nonetheless it's rich in gourmet restaurants for more sophisticated palates. My husband and I went to A'Cuncuma restaurant, in the heart of Ballarò neighborhood, a small place with few tables. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived till the end; the personnel is friendly and provided us lots of suggestions. We chose a menu of 6 dishes -- the cuisine is local but revisited with a new twist. One of the best dishes was pasta con le sarde (spaghetti with sardines), which respected the traditions in terms of ingredients but was cooked differently, the best of all our dinners in Palermo. The selection of wine is good, and we tried a local white wine from Sicily that paired excellently with all dishes. A small gem for a romantic dinner! Personnel speak English.
